Jian Ding ,is currently the director, researcher and project leader of the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also the director and research team leader of the State Key Laboratory of New Drug Research. In 2009, he was co-opted as an academician of the Faculty of Medicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He concurrently serves as the chairman of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association Anti-Cancer Drug Professional Committee and the Chinese Pharmacological Society Oncology Pharmacology Professional Committee. Served as the editor-in-chief of Acta Pharmacol Sin (Chinese Journal of Pharmacology) and the editor-in-chief of four international academic journals including J Biol Chem and Eur J Pharmacol. The leader has established an anti-tumor drug screening and pharmacodynamic evaluation system that meets international standards, providing important technical support and capability guarantee for the independent research and development of my country's anti-tumor innovative drugs. The focus is on molecular targeted anti-tumor drugs. Two new anti-tumor candidates developed as one of the main inventors are in phase II clinical research and four are undergoing preclinical evaluation. The system revealed the mechanism of action of more than ten self-developed new anti-tumor candidates such as salvesin and saccharine acetic acid, and achieved a first in the research on the mechanism of new topoisomerase II inhibitors and angiogenesis inhibitors.
